In Reference to the Crossfit Rise Above Mural:
Yesterday Florida Today came into our business and asked us our opinion on the mural. Truthfully we told them that we won't deny we found this mural to be distasteful and that we believe it does not belong in our area. Although some people may love it, this is our personal opinion that we are entitled to. We decided to hang blinds to filter out its dominance in our showroom. We have had numerous customers and neighbors feel negatively about the mural and it’s content .
Since the Florida Today Ad has singled us out we have received numerous harassment phone calls, hate letters, threats to ruin our reputation and slandering all across social media. This article has led the artist Matt Gondek - Artist & Illustrator and his 77,000 Instagram followers who are now slandering us to believe that we Atlantic Furniture is single handedly trying to have his art work taken down. It is not us who is in charge of the architectural review board. And it is NOT only us who has a negative opinion.
It is disheartening to think after 9 years of running a successful, customer oriented business that our family business and livelihood is now in question because of a mere statement & opinion.
Further more the City of Melbourne and its council members are the ones bringing this issue back to the board. NOT US. It is the City of Melbourne who is questioning the mural. The final project is not what was originally submitted and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
Please consider that there are 3 sides to every story. Their side, Our Side & The truth.
